The Southern United States is a rich and diverse landscape.
It is a land of beauty and history. Of culture tied to the land in which it is rooted, both of which seem to slip further away every day. A place of old granduer, and new surprises. It is a place that is little known to any but those who are born there, and loved by all who visit.
In looking around the net, I discovered that the information on backpacking trails in the Southern United States is spotty at best. Current information on Mississippi and Louisiana is nearly nonexistent. This web site has been created to hopefully begin to remedy that situation.

On this site I will be including detailed accounts and photos from trails I have hiked around the Southern Unitied States. Also, I hope to include eyewitness details of other trails throughout the South from others. Hopefully this site will become a storehouse of valuable information concerning hiking and backpacking in the South.

Check back frequently as we are taking trips every month (some months every week). And we will be reviewing gear, techniques, etc frequently.
So grab a drink, sit back and discover the Southern States.
"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither;
Deep roots are not reached by frost."
J. R. R. Tolkien
